I’ve read many bloggers writing about the local networks of ripping off almost anything they show on their stupid shows. Ok, let’s rephrase: judging from what they’re showing on their promos and previews, which means the costumes, yes they did rip them off. They’re licensed to use Lupin, go ahead, it’s obviously Sailormoon, fine, both of them are “Asians”, right? But Lara Croft and Indiana Jones, hmm… I’ll never care about their story lines because since their previews never appeal to me, chances are, I’ll never watch any of them. Ok, maybe, if heaven made me sick and made me stay at home to catch TV, I’ll be curious to watch them for 5 minutes max and avoid TV after that.
Of course, I know, they need to show something that would give people a “recall” or whatever reason they have and do the same stupid marketing ploy (they do over and over again…) They lack of originality, they cast actors based on current popularity, not on whether they suit the roles. Or if they can do the role. Who cares if Sam Milby can’t say a straight Tagalog, he’s damn hot… blah, blah, blah. It’s all about getting as much viewers as they can. Their marketing staff, their researchers, their shows sucks.
Judging from a few glimpses on any Richard Gutierez and Angel Locsin TV series I ever caught while my sister switched channels, sad to say, I just can’t see where the talent is. They’re just changing costumes, but they never change their roles. They never change their facial expressions, they never act. Maybe to see if Angel Locsin (whose voted the Most Beautiful Filipina) can really act (or see the difference in her acting I mean), they have to rip off the Mexican telenovela La Usurpadora and give it to Angel. Wait, but that’s similar alread to Mia Gracia (remember that girl from Eat Bulaga? Whatshername?), but who cares, we hardly remember that show, bwahaha.
It’s like watching Thalia on her Maria trilogy, it’s the same old story line. The Korean drama series, they all have that same theme. The difference lies in the way they act, the way they do their lines. And they can sell to the world.
You know what, I’d rather see the stage because that’s where true talents and acting skills are.
Wait, I’m writing about rip-off shows. Oh well.
And yes, I stopped watching Princess Hours anymore. If ever I’ll watch Jumong, which my sister recommends, I’ll get a DVD instead. JY version. Never buy the defective MA brand.
