Live Action: Hanazakari no Kimitachi e – Japan

Everything about this series is lovable!

This is the Japan Live Action version.I haven’t watched enough of the Taiwan version to like it. I stopped watching it on the second episode. Probably because like what other people say on messageboards, I can’t take Ella as a girl. She’s a boy no matter they say.

Sure, Maki Horikita looks more girly to act like a boy but still, she’s still effective. They say that the Taiwan version stick with the manga storyline but the Japanese version still give me the laughs. All the characters (and additions) were wonderful. I like the way they tweaked the photographer to become the school nurse/doctor’s love interest. It also has more “heart” in it. And of course, Ikuta Toma and his monologues are the best. I’m surprised to know he has no (solo) album yet. He can sing. He’s a total performer. I don’t like his small role in HanaYori Dango though.

And even though they say that the story is chaotic (I like the way Japanese series has their own subplots on every episode which makes everything a series of events not fully dependent on the whole story), there is nothing boring and each comes with a few twists and surprises.
