Spring Waltz is shown on local primetime now here in the Philippines. I tried not to watch since I’m still trying to finish all my J-series but I guess I can’t escape this song, so, thanks to my sister, I could only glue myself to the TV. I think this is one of those sad series where the lead girl will die. I have no idea since I haven’t read any synopsis yet.

I need a Cellphone

I decided that I’d go for a cellphone ahead instead of a new laptop while I don’t have enough money to buy a long-term one.

I don’t care if its not the latest model, my main factor is still affordability (since cellphones goes under the not so important category of my life), but I wouldn’t get hurt if I’ll spend a little more if it would help me live without buying a new phone for another decade .

My preferred features are:

• 3G/HSDPA
• QWERTY keyboard
• A2DP
• could accomodate at least 1 GB of storage (separate SD)
• Windows Mobile

A great way to enjoy your wallpaper collection this coming year

Ever since since I started collecting and printing Asian wallpapers (celebrities/dramas/movies), I’ve been craving for a free software where I could transform these wallpaper into a calendar, especially now that I have tons of Maki Horikita pictures! With digital photo printing is now affordable, I was finding way to add calendar templates into my wallpapers and then print them. It’s such a waste to just print an image and place it in an album when I could make it in mini calendars and display on my office table rather than just posting with on a corkboard. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to find a freeware program where I could just enter the date and voila, overlay them on my wallpaper then export it in original jpeg format and rush to my digital printing shop. If I could do it successfully, maybe I could even sell or give them to friends as gifts.

Unfortunately, I didn’t find an easy way so I choose to use help from Photoshop instead. I found a tutorial which uses manually creating tables for the calendar. Actually, what I wanted is a simple monthly table or plain numbers where the reds represent the Sundays, that way, it won’t make the whole print cluttered with numbers and pictures.

I also found Pbase’s tutorial which actually provided me with better and more ideas for this project. It has helpful templates for 2008. But I want simple, you know me, I’m so busy I might try them sometime, when I have the time.

There’s also Canon’s Creative Park which has ready to print materials. You could just paste. But just the same, it needs work and Photoshop skills to finish and export the file on . I’m not sure if it would print correctly too.

What I really wanted was something like Softmos Calendar could do. Except with the option to export them to JPEG files and fix the calendar layout.

But still, I would try to make calendars this year. I’m surprised or even find myself odd that while people around me print their pictures from their cellphones, I’m printing Maki pics. I don’t think they know Maki since there’s less jodarama shown on local TV now.

Or maybe I could even other printable and custom items like mugs (?), shirts (?), omo, am I becoming a fan? I was never a big fan of anything. I think.

OST: Honey and Clover

Ok, ok, the only reason I watched this anime is because of Ikuta Toma. He will star in the live-action drama very soon and I want to find out how his character was like. Turned out I got a defective DVD and has to find the anime on Crunchyroll. I haven’t finished the last episode of Season 1 since there’s so many things to watch and do these days.

I am not an anime lover, except if you will count all the anime I saw and took a glance during my childhood. But more or less, I am not fond of anime. But I love this one. The story is soft, though the start of the story is a little boring, you’ll learn to love the characters as you move on the chapters and begin to appreciate the story. I tried to watch the movie and the guy playing Takemoto is cute. The girl playing Hagu looks like Jeong Ryeo-Won.

(OMO! He’s actually Sho Sakurai! He’s in Yamada Taro Monogatari! I just bought that drama last time without knowing what’s the synopsis. Now, I should watch that later! Sorry, Tokyo Juliet, but I have to move you over.)

I finally finished another series

I finished Bad Couple last night. I remember the last Korean series I finished was Witch Yoo Hee, and it’s just because I can’t stop watching Jae-Hee. I haven’t finished Hwang Jini and local TV’s ahead of me now. I don’t think I’ll finish watching it soon. My sister told me how it ends. Awful. The last live action I finished watching was Hana Kimi Japan.

Bad Couple’s ending is typical. But I shed too many tears watching it, I think I’m somehow satisfied with how it ended. I asked my sister to get a DVD of 18 vs. 29 but she can’t find anything now. This is what I get from not following what’s on TV. Heh.

I think I’ll continue my Korean drama sabbath. I’ll watch the anime, jodaramas and Taiwan series in my bin just because there’s always life after K-dramas.

I wish to finish watching more during the holidays.

You know Younha?

To start your day, let me greet you with a happy song from a Korean singer who made it big in Japan. Her name is Younha (or Go Youn-Ha). I learned about her when I was searching for Yui. Apparently, Younha is compared much with BoA, another big Oricon star who’s from Korea.

It said and can be found on various Youtube videos that Younha started auditioning for SM entertainment (BoA’s agency) but then she got turned down because she’s not pretty enough. And yes, in that particular Youtube video, she’s not too pretty but heck, surgery could always do visible transformations. From what I can see in the Motto Futari De video, Younha looks a lot like Eugene (Kim Yoo-jin), the "cutest" member of the girl group S.E.S. (group). I like the way Younha plays on the piano, playful yet confident, again you don’t need to know what the song means, you can feel it in the video.

Only thing is, Younha sounds the typical non-Japanese native. She doesn’t have the accent, the thickness in voice in some Japanese songs I listened to, and the girly pitch, but still, she’s great and lovable considering how she began her career in Japan (self-studying the language, etc.) and how she could write her own songs.

Drama: Bad Couple

What can I say? I’m sure a lot of people love this drama even before I did. I had no posts, I missed work yesterday just to finish this drama (unfortunately, I still have 2 episodes left). I told

I already love Shin Eun-Kyung. She’s the lead in one of the first Korean movies that I watched and got me started in the whole Korean Wave. I watched two of her films, My Wife is a Gangster and a more recent, A Perfect Match and she’s good at both. She could be subtle, she could be mean, and yet she’s convincing in her acting. I think she’s one of those "few" Korean actresses that could actually act. *Cough* Kim Tae-hee*Cough*

This is just me, but I’m beginning to think SEK is Kim Sun-Ah’s twin. Come to think of it, they’re both good actresses. One that could pull great comedic acts, they sometimes get caught with similar facial expressions. I actually wonder how Kim Sun-Ah would be if she’s playing Dang-Ja instead. It’s would still be great.

I first saw Ryu Soo Young in The Successful Story of Bright Girl and his charming role in this drama is far from his mean outlook in Bright Girl. This drama makes me wanna watch 18 vs. 29 where he is also in a lead role. It’s nice to see supporting actors in their lead roles nowadays considering the fact that they were part of early Korea Wave. Also, new actors are always a constant export in Korea, it seems good plastic surgery could always provide the audience something new to watch out for, but I still prefer the ones I loved even before.

I know I am quite sentimental during the holidays and maybe that was a reason why I fell for this drama. But apart from that, probably because I am still single (independent, career-oriented, no boyfriend kind) that made feel close to Dang Ja’s character. And do I remember that once, I fall for a Gi-chan type of guy. Hah! That timid, shy, but caring and sensible kind. The thought of having a child even without marriage, I had it before until I realize that I would feel totally unfair for my child to live without a father. Being a "Miss Mom" intentionally is such a selfish act. Another cute part which got me hooked is how Dang Ja tries to trick and seduce the cold Gi Chan. Beat it, the title of this drama should be Seducing Mr. Perfect but a movie has that title already. I could only criticize how Danga Ja’s belly looks when she’s pregnant. One scene, it’s big, one scene it’s not. I think they worked less on that part. I hate it too when Dang Ja started to trash Gi Chan once she thought that she’s already pregnant.
