For the record, Kill TV is my most disliked title. Because it only means I’ll be ranting about local shows.
I’ve had a rollercoaster day already today but I decided to skip that because this post enough will take be a long one.
The news/rumor is allover LJ, JE fan blogs, forums and I’m not happy about it. (Yes, I just learned about it yesterday.)
WARNING: What follows is a long rant, maybe baseless, spurt of the moment, dumb, whatever, but I’m really pissed off. Think of this as something like my Hana Kimi JP vs Hana Kimi TW post. Which pretty much attracted thousands of Kapamilya fangirls. I can’t think straight right now. You may freely imagine that I’m shouting inside my head despite the lack of raining exclamation points.
KUROSAGI in Philippine TV? Really? And a million other JE dramas in your list waiting to be shown? *EDIT: UNFORTUNATELY, there had been reported sightings of the Kurosagi in GMA7 teaser already*
And bringing JE artists here? Really? You wanna end in bankruptcy? (And if I may ask, how many big Korean stars have you brought here already? YOU NEVER EVEN MADE ANY KPOP ARTIST FAMOUS HERE WHEN KOREAN WAVE WAS AT ITS HEIGHT! You didn’t do anything about that network giants! Note: NETWORK = ABS-CBN + GMA)
Why do I hate the local shows so much? Is it because of crab mentality? Is it me being not loyal to my skin? I don’t know! But it’s mainly because of the stupid treatments of those 2 networks on dramas here.
* I hate it because they use taglines such as “THE ORIGINAL” yet all their fantasy series, games shows, reality shows, and whatelse are all remakes. INDEED VERY ORIGINAL! And they both fight over the REMAKE rights! And with every new remakes, they MAKE battles among their own talents over who will play.
* I’ve read comments that stations butcher dramas. How they cheat on show time with too many commercial breaks. How they cut too many scenes from the series and later show an “UNCUT” version. Eff!
* They give the worst timeslot for J-doramas. Early morning, pre-noon, post-noontime, but they don’t give primetime slot to the dramas. Why? WHY? Therefore, the drama or actor’s popularity suffers. Korean series gets primetime slot, but not J-doramas. As much as I would want to support HYD2 and HKJP, I can’t coz I got work. Although alot of Pinay fans were Jun-bait, I don’t think HYD2 garnered that much fans (I’m not sure though) but I really hate their timeslot scheduling.
* Many fans complain about the dubbing. But personally, it’s the first thing I saw that works with me and I think so is for most people. If I first saw the subbed, I’d hate the dubbed. If I first watched the dubbed, I’d never get the subbed.
* I hate it because in this country, the game is POPULARITY OVER TALENT. For example, in casting for local shows THEY DON’T KNOW THE WORD AUDITION or TALENT. Only WHO’s HOT right now is who’ll be the cast! The newest person to go out of that cursed house is HOT HOT HOT! Yes, For all I know, they’re just riding in with the popularity of JE all over Asia.
* I hate both their network fangirls. No, I’ll call them groupies. Network war groupies here in PH are mostly people who enjoy their pointless fights over TV shows, gossips, who’s had better plastic surgery on forums (probably). They bash the other station’s talentless artists, and bash more, gossips more. They don’t end their bashing, that sometimes I think they’re paid to do that. Who knows? And imagine those groupies bashing JE artists/their drama just because he belong to the other station. I’d rather keep with today’s fangirls’ state of community-kinship. Although I believe the fandom had enough share of troubles already. That’s why you can’t unite the Philippines! That’s why I don’t believe in your news. Because you write news for your groupies!
AND WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THEY BRING THEM HERE?
* I hate the way they try to guest their imports and put them in their noontime shows, speak very few Tagalog words, greet with screaming, crazy fans, ask the guest for a kiss, a hug or their babies. MOLESTATION. They don’t even bother to make a decent interview. That is because…
* Ah interviews, they get interpreters who just had knowledge by reading Basic Chinese/Korean/Japanese from phrasebooks (ok, that’s an exaggeration). And most of them are nervous. I dread beauty pageants Q&A hosted here.
So please, I pray, if ever Jdorama will be the next trend we could not avoid, I hope those 2 networks will play it nicely. WE DON’T NEED YOU TO PHILIPPINE-IZE them! We like the Jdoramas because of their culture, their being Japanese, just that way (I think I shouldn’t even endorse HKJP in the first place). NOT YOUR WICKED, POLITICAL, SPICY WAY of BASTARDISING TV!
To soon-to-be fans of Jdoramas, better catch dramas on the Internet. There’s really nothing like feeling of catching with your eyes the subs blinking on the screen. Because really, after watching the dubbed drama and later search it on youtube for scene caps, you’ll find it weird that they’re talking Japanese. With their real voice *gasps*! And by the way, fansubs are made of love! They may not be bought by networks for you, that’s because fansubs are not made for money! This is a better way to appreciate Jdoramas… with the people who are working to keep the JE stars alive!
I might still have time to play DS now. Maybe tomorrow, I can SMILE AGAIN.
Raise your Hands!
